Ontario Immigration: 3 Occupations Added Under In-Demand Skills Stream

Ontario immigration has proceeded to add three new professions below the Stream Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills.

Canada’s biggest province has also decreased the work experience requirement by the stream Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, to 9 months in the previous three years. Earlier, applicants were anticipated to have 12 months of work experience in the previous three years.

The professions being added to the OINP stream are:

• Transport truck drivers (NOC 7511)
• Home support workers and related occupations, excluding housekeepers (NOC 4412)
• Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates (NOC 3413)

The In-Demand Skills Stream modifications are part of a raft of latest proposals published in the budget of Ontario on April 2019. After a public consultation that closed on 30 May 2019, Ontario approved the modifications in an Ontario PNP announcement on 8 July 2019.

The Ontario PNP statement said: Below the Stream In-Demand Skills, the work experience demand has been decreased and 3 latest National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes associated to transport truck drivers and personal support workers were added as suitable occupations to support evolving labor market requirements.

This stream aims candidates with specifically skilled that are in-demand in the province of Ontario. To qualify, candidates must have:

• Permanent and full-time employment offer below the specific occupations in the construction or agriculture sector and reaches the standard wage in Ontario for the profession, and in a place that is important to the business.
• 9 months of comprehensive work experience in the previous three years in one of the qualified occupations. Experience needs to be paid and full time or a similar amount in part-time work in Ontario.
• Similar to Canadian high school education or greater.
• Valid license or certificate at the time of appeal for any claimed work experience that needs it.
• At least CLB/NCLC 4 in French or English in all language competencies.
• Enough funds and/or income in Ontario to manage settlement costs for you and also for your family members.
• Plan to settle in the province of Ontario.
