Ontario Requests Federal Government to Increase Provincial Allocation

Immigration to Canada continues on the rise at both the federal and provincial level, despite a move in the current week by the Quebec province to decrease the number of immigrants it will welcome in the following year.

Nationally, the Canadian Government has a goal of 330,800 current admissions to Canada for the year 2019, which is an increment of approximately 07 percent over 2018’s goal of 310,000.

Below the federal government of Canada plan of multi-year immigration levels revealed at the end of Oct, Canada’s aim for complete admissions to the nation by its various family, economic and refugee programs will grow by more than 13% within 2018 and 2021 from 310,000 to 350,000.

Quebec province says its move to immigration cap at 40,000 current admissions in the year 2019 — a decline of approximately 10,000 above this year is intended to assure that immigrants who are granted successfully integrated into the bulk French-speaking province and place down roots there.

Quebec’s choice is to decrease immigration, despite, runs counter to the trend in other provinces of Canada.

Ontario Asks for Further PNP Allocation

Immigration is presently the primary driver of population and labor force growth in Canada, and several Canadian provinces are actively working to the channel of higher immigrants their way to approach a growing demand for workers.

Canada’s most populated province Ontario is vying for an increase in the immigrant's number that it will be entitled to nominate for PR next year by Provincial Nominee Program of Canada’s (PNP), which allows participating territories and provinces to select immigrants who are a match for local labor market requirements.

Ontario province has confirmed that it is expecting to boost its 2019 nomination allocation to 7,600, which serve an improvement of 1,000 nominations over its 2018 years allocation of 6,600 and a 26.7% rise over its initial 2017 allocation of 6,000.

Other provinces for immigration is notified to be on the increase are Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador.
