Nov 2018 was an important month for Canada’s labor force as unemployment dropped to its lowest level in over 40 years, and immigrants performed a vital role in making this important reduction a reality.
The monthly rate of unemployment dropped by 0.2% points to 5.6% in Nov 2018, thereby indicating the least figure since comparable data became accessible in 1976. This month-to-month decline in unemployment numbers over Canada was thanks to a rush in primarily full-time work of 94,000 in Nov.
From an immigrant aspect, the positive trends observed in Sept and Oct continued into Nov as levels of unemployment fell over nearly all immigrant categories. Much like Oct, immigrants who have been residing in Canada for higher than a decade had a level of unemployment 5.1% — an extraordinary 0.5% points weaker than this month’s record low of 5.6% for the entire unemployment in Canada.
Immigrants who have resided in Canada for shorter than 05 years observed unemployment levels drop by 0.4% points in Nov, while those who have recently arrived also had a higher unemployment drop in Nov for a new sum of 5.9%. Both of the drops emphasize how immigrant workers remain to integrate strongly into the labor force of Canada.
Employment rises noticed in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta in the month of Nov, with the prior recognizing employment increase by 26,000 in Nov, the effect of more full-time work, especially in the scientific and technical, professional, and educational services.
Employment rose by 24,000 in the province of Alberta in Nov for an annual increase equaling 59,000, or 2.6%. Similarly, Ontario remained its recovery from a slight late-summer drop to register a rise of 20,000 in employment last month.
