Canada Immigration: Operating Over 80 Economic Class Immigration Programs

Since May 2019, applicants below the Canadian Express Entry system have pointed to need a Comprehensive Ranking Score over 460 points to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada PR. In the latest months, this has risen even further to about 470 or greater.

Up till then, the Comprehensive Ranking cut-off scores hovered within 430 and 450 points for the greater part of 2 years. The higher cut-off CRS score is due to the reality that more applicants are obtaining extra CRS points for criteria such as having experience in Canada (as former global students and temporary immigrant workers) and receiving a provincial nomination.

Despite the greater cut-off CRS scores, there are several reasons why those interested in setting life in Canada should enter the pool of Express Entry even though presently they do not have a CRS score over 460 points.

Candidates Advised to Provide an Express Entry Application Even Though they don’t meet the Present CRS cut-off

First, it is not likely to foretell CRS cut-offs. By providing an Express Entry application applicants give themselves a possibility to obtain an ITA in the case that the federal government decreases the CRS cut-off.

Second, by the Provincial Nominee (PNP) Program, provinces & territories can choose immigration applicants who have provided Express Entry applications. In tradition, this means all the applicants who fall short of the federal CRS cut-off may obtain an I.T.A for Canada PR if they match the selection requirements of a territory or province.

Third, immigration applicants should look away from Express Entry by taking the fact that Canada now grants more economic immigration pathways. Express Entry is an essential component of the Canadian immigration system, accounting for 42% of the nation's economic class immigration.

It means that above 80 economic class pathways are open to those interested in migrating to Canada.
