Canada Immigration: Demand For Caregivers Is Growing Tremendously

Three years ago, Canada announced formally having more seniors than children in the nation for the first time. The Canadians number aged 65 and above has jumped 20 percent since 2011, resulting in a Canadian median age of 41.2 years. As a higher number of Canadians enter retirement, the need for young skilled workers and caregivers continues to grow.

Canadian Aging Population

In 2019, One out of four Canadians above the age of 30 states that they are already giving care for someone else, with other third plans to do so shortly. The plenty of Canadian caregivers are within the ages of 40 and 50. 50 percent of this age group is having children below 15 years age, indicating the care-giving responsibility is two-fold.

The need of caregivers in Canada is enormous and expected to grow in the future. The government of Canada recognizes the necessity for a variety of immigration programs to support caregivers to find work in Canada, and give them a pathway to Canada PR.

Opportunities for Caregivers

Beginning this year, the government of Canada announced plans to offer enhanced immigration pilot programs for global caregivers, which began on June 2019. These two pilots permit candidates to work in Canada with a work permit and offer a pathway to appeal for Canada PR and also to their family after finishing two years of work in Canada.

Both the Home Support Worker Pilot and Home Child Care Provider Pilot have opened to admit a maximum of 2,750 appellants per year. The pilots admit foreign caregivers to easily change companies and can be accompanied by their family members. The immediate family members of a caregiver will further eligible to appeal for Canadian study permits or open work permits, enabling them to gain valuable Canadian study or experience. Qualified candidates for both pilots need to have a Canadian employment offer while submitting their application.

Luckily, the government of Canada is responsive to the demand to bring workers to the nation, and intends to welcome higher than one million immigrants in the following three years.
