Australia Immigration: Latest Updates About Subclass 489 Visa

In the recent announcement of the cancellation of Skilled Regional (Subclass 489) Provisional visas and its substitution with the Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) Provisional visa on 16 Nov 2019, migration agents and different stakeholders have been notified in the recent Skilled Visa Newsletter still to be announced on the website of Department of Home Affairs’ on a couple of crucial deadlines.

Two Major Updates for Skilled Regional Visa

The first thing is that the end date for invitations for subclass 489 visas will be announced is 10 Sept 2019. Invitations for an early subclass 489 visa appeal come below two categories: Territory or State nominations and sponsorships by a qualified relative. The 10 Sept 2019 deadline for invitations applies to categories of both. It is also the end date to be able to provide an Expression of Interest (E.O.I) in SkillSelect for the subclass 489 visa.

The second thing is that the end date for any individuals invited to apply for a subclass 489 visa must provide their application by 15 Nov 2019.

Around 67 days within the last date for invitations and the last date to submit a subclass 489 visa application, there is no possibility for a person invited will be discouraged by these deadlines. It is because invitations by SkillSelect are valid for tenure of 60 days.

From 16 Nov 2019, E.O.I appeals can be made for subclass 491 visas, Territories and States can nominate abroad nationals for this specific visa, and invitations can be announced. Some applicants who are considered may need to update their application of E.O.I from this date if they need to be counted for a subclass 491 visa.
