South Africa direct residence permit

Is that true that Direct residence permits applicable to foreigners who have been residing in South Africa on the basis of their work permits for a minimum period of five years?

Yes, if the person is working in South Africa for 5 years on valid visa, he will be eligible to apply for PR.
